My Heritage

My Heritage

As I mentioned before, I grew up in a small town in Germany. I have one sister, 2 1/2 years older then I am. My Mother was a nurse also for 25 years and my Father a parking attentant. Life was kinda rough, we didn't have much. Course my Fathers drinking didn't help much in those days.

We lived in the house Grandpa build in 1939, downstairs. My Grandparents lived upstairs. Grandpa was a Carpenter and Grandma tended the house and kids. My Mother had 2 Brothers. Her younger Brother was electrocuted working on wiring when he was in his 20's. Her older Brother lived next door with his Family and later died of Prostate cancer.

My Grandparents died when I was a Teenager in the 70's. Dad died of a massive heartattack in 1974. He was 52 years old. My teen age years consisted of wearing black clothing at least once a year for several years since german customs are a bit different than in this country. Mom died of a massive stroke in 1996. She was 75 years old.

I try to visit my sister and her kids at least every couple of years in Germany. And I still have some very dear friends there as well. Well, enough of that. Lets have some pictures. Shall we ?

The house I grew up in and lived there until I moved to the states in 1975 when I was 18 years old.

My sister and I when we were little. Even as kids we were different as night and day. Still are in some ways.

My Mom and I on the front lawn. I musta been about 4 years old in this picture.

Another beauty shot, age about 4-5 years.

With our shepard Anja. She was Dads dog and died within a year of his death in late 1974. Loved to chase the cows and bite them in the utters.(grin)

My first day of school April 28 1965. I loved my long hair, but Mom talked me into cutting it off a few years later. Still have my braids today.

Babe shot number 2 (grin) in my red cross uniform. I musta been about 13 or so.

With my parents in 1972.

My grand parents on my Mom's side on their 50th wedding anniversary in 1972.

My sister, Mom and I in 1995. Last pic before Mom died in 1996.

Sis and I. Different as night and day, but one of my best friends I have. My only family left, I love her dearly.
